SUTHERLAND, William R. "Bill"
Lived to be 90
Born October 5, 1920
Passed On February 11, 2011

Bill was born in Granite Falls, Washington. After being raised in the farm life, he went into the military at the age of 22. Served in the Navy, went into deep sea diving training. He was one of the last Pearl Harbor Survivors. Bill was very proud to be able to serve his country, has an honorable discharge from the Navy. Went on to build his own business as a rock crusher contractor for making roads in the northwest. Finally settled down in Spokane to build a home and raise his family. When he retired, he moved to Hauser Lake, Idaho where he was still very busy restoring cars, boats and big machinery, something he always enjoyed doing. He is survived by Oscar Sutherland (son), Nancy Sutherland Potter (daughter), NancyKay Smith (granddaughter) and two great-grandchildren Sonyia and Dameion. He was preceded in death by a son James W. Sutherland. He lived a good life and was a good man. We will miss him. Viewing will be Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 10 a.m.-"5 p.m. with the Funeral Service on Friday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. both at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines Rd. Spokane Valley. My father and followed the rock crusher in the early 60s. Along withMarvin Groh, Orville Widmire (married a Bagley), Julian Goodlake (Stub) his wife Darlene, the Glasier boys Milt and Gene, Bobby Ferguson,don't forget Bill's Studebaker Golden Hawk! To Bill's Family, Bill was very dear to me and I enjoyed our visits and lunch times whenever I came to Spokane. I am unable to attend the services for Bill because of committments here in Montana. I will remember him dearly. Tim Jackson
