BALLEW, Jeanne C. December 18, 1940 ~ February 28, 2014 Jeanne Charlotte McBeth Ballew was born on December 18, 1940 in California and passed away on February 28, 2014 at Kootenai Health following an accident at home. She was surrounded by family as she gently slipped away in the arms of Jesus. Jeanne fought an enormous long battle with rheumatoid arthritis and its related complications. In spite of her pain and suffering, this amazing woman continued to crochet, knit, sew, cook, garden and make generous gifts for people. She never complained through any of the pain and continued to work as an operating room registered nurse until 2006, retiring from Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. As a military child, she grew up in Bermuda and Japan, graduating from High School in Japan. She attended Pacific Union College of California as a Registered Nurse. As an operating room nurse for most of her career she was an active member of the AORN. Her skills and love of nursing inspired her niece, sister and step daughter all to become nurses. Likewise, her granddaughter Olivia is beginning footsteps into this profession. Jeanne married her soul mate, Barry Ballew in Southern California in 1970 and together they moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID in 1974 where they enjoyed snow and water skiing. Together they bought and restored a lake house on Hayden Lake, where they then spent their summers. They also spent many years building their home on acreage south of Coeur d'Alene with their own hands and skills. Jeanne is one of the strongest determined woman and fought courageously with a devastating disease all the while loving and caring for her family and friends without ever missing a beat. However, it is time for her journey with Jesus in heaven free from pain. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Myers and her father, Charles McBeth. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Barry Ballew. She is also survived by her stepson, Barry Michael Ballew and his wife, Wakana of Boise, ID; stepdaughter, Jamie Ballew Ragan and her husband, Rick of Worley, ID; grandchildren, Christopher Mulderig and Olivia Griffith; step-father, Erland Myers; sisters, Jacqueline McBeth Spykerman, Donna DeVries Potter; and brother, Donald DeVries; nieces, Lesa and Jena; nephews, James and Kirk whom absolutely adored her. A graveside service will be on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00am at Pines Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 12:00pm at the Spokane Valley 7th day Adventist Church, 1601 S.
