BARTOLETTA-DUBOIS, Rose Mele (Age 90) May 7th, 1923-March 8, 2014 Rose passed away peacefully at her son's home, on March 8th, 2014. Born May 7th, 1923 in Spokane, Washington to Italian immigrants: Giovanni (John) Mele and Marietta Leonetti; both from Serra Pedace, Italy. Second oldest of three sisters and one brother, Amelia (Harold) Baumhofer, deceased, Dorothy (Roy) Pearson, Seattle, WA, and John (Marie) Mele, deceased. As a child, Rose and her family visited frequently with relatives in the Walla Walla area. Rose attended Garfield Elementary and graduated from North Central High School and Kinmann Business College. During World War II she worked for Civil Service, first in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then at Fort George Wright, Spokane, WA. After the war she worked for her father John and later her father-in-law Frank Bartoletta at the Westlake and Main and Post Markets, downtown Spokane, WA. In November of 1945 she married Albert Bartoletta and had three children; Frank (Ruth) Bartoletta, Marilyn Pitini, and Janet (Leo) Green. She worked as Office Manager for the Retail Clerks of the AFLCIO Union for twenty five years before retiring in 1983, and was also the Secretary Treasurer of their Credit Union. After retiring she remained active in the community, volunteering for Sacred Heart Hospital for the next 20 plus years. During retirement she was very fortunate to travel the world with her sister Dorothy. She visited her beloved Uncle Francesco and Aunt Caterina Leonetti and maintained strong ties to her Italian family, including her cousins: Rosetta, Luigi, Laura, and Enzo Leonetti of Calabria, Italy. She was preceded in death by her Uncle Louis Leonetti of Spokane, and Aunt Rose Rizzuti of Portland, Oregon. After her husband Albert's death she later married Ray DuBois, who had three children; Judy Pacquin, Steve DuBois, both of California, and Donald DuBois of Colorado. Rose lived a full life and was a member of St. Thomas Moore, St. Aloysius, and St. Francis of Assisi Parishes, Catholic Business Women's Club, Eagles, and Foresters, and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She is survived and loved by her many nieces and nephews, including her "second son", John Baumhofer; six grandchildren: Colleen McGuire, Michael Green, Frank Bartoletta III, Dominic Bartoletta, Guytano Pitini, and Sean Green; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Hanna, Holland, and Truman Toliver, Alysha, Michael, and Albert Green, Carmen and Lucas Bartoletta, Isabella and Audrey Green, and Eden, Hawkins, Rhone, and Baron Pitini. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 14th, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Parish. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A strong woman, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, the matriarch of her family, she will be dearly missed and remembered by all she touched.
