ORAHOOD, David W. David William Orahood was born on March 9, 1933, in Spokane, Washington to Glendon and Olive Orahood. He grew up in Millwood. He earned his Eagle Scout and graduated from West Valley High School in 1951. He entered the Washington State College ROTC program. While at WSC, he became a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He married Joanne Hustad on January 1, 1955. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force and while in flight school, he contracted polio. He continued to serve in the Air Force and retired eight years later. He moved back to Spokane to attend Eastern Washington State College where he received his teaching certificate. He taught math and chemistry at Medical Lake High School for three years and at University High School for 30 years. He loved to hunt, fish and build many small wood projects as well as his family cabin. He taught his three daughters to hunt and fish and be independent. He was active in Inland Empire Fly Fishing and volunteered to help youngsters learn to fish. Just this March, he became a life time member of the fly fishing club. He was very respected and loved by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Julie (Darrel) Moss, Lisa (Steve) Woodard, and Linda (Jeff) Uno. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mike (Jessie) Moss, Sean (Alana) Moss, Laura and Christopher Woodard, Ashley and David Uno; and his great-grandchildren, Nathan, Drew and Mason Moss. Visitation will take place from 6-8pm on Thursday, March 27th at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. Additional visitation will begin at noon on Friday, March 28th at Advent Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave., Spokane Valley, WA.
