RENFORD, John Burton "Jack" Went to be with his Lord on May 10, 2014. Jack was born November 22, 1927 in Minot, North Dakota, to Clarence and Pauline Renford. The family moved to Spokane when Jack was in grade school. Following school, he went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad, presently the BNSF, where he worked for 44 Â½ years, retiring as chief clerk of the yard office. He served as president and local chairman for the BRAC-TCU, where he was a 70-year member. On January 17, 1950, he married Betty Johnson, the love of his life, and together they raised two children, John David and Sharon Kay. He enjoyed family time, a neat lawn, fishing, playing pool, traveling and volunteering at the VA Hospital. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and was a member of the Sons of Norway where he served as V.P., President and Counselor. He was also a member of All Saints Lutheran Church. He served his country with the 25th Infantry Division of the Army during the occupation of Japan. He was a member of VFW Post 51. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 64 years; son John and wife Peggy, two granddaughters, Erika, and Andrea and husband John Gould, and great-granddaughter, Faith; brother Richard Renford and wife Linda; sisters-in-law, Lois Johnson of North Aurora, IL and MaryLou Renford; several nieces and cousins, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sharon, and brother Paul. Visitation will be May 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 4305 N. DIVISION ST., SPOKANE, WA. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace followed by memorial service for the celebration of Jack's life at noon on Friday, May 16 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 314 S. Spruce St., Spokane. Memorials may be made to All Saints Lutheran Church.
