WARD, Richard "Dick" Passed away on May 26, 2014, at age 82. Dick and his wife Loy retired to Hayden, ID, about 15 years ago, having spent much of their life raising a family in Ephrata, Washington. Dick enjoyed a lengthy career at Roth Distributing in Moses Lake, where he learned a great deal about beer and wine sales. Dick was a good example of a generation who believed in doing for others. He was active in the Catholic Church, even serving as a Lector, and also participated in charitable works through the Knights of Columbus and Lions organizations. Dick was proud of his military career, beginning with service in England during the Korean War and continuing with a stint in the Naval Reserve and eventual retirement from the 1161st Transportation Unit in the National Guard. Outside of work and family, movies, boating, camping, and fishing were among his favorite activities, and Dick was a proud member of the "12th Man" before the "12th Man" existed. He enjoyed golf later in life, and, while his game needed work, he took comfort knowing he had a gadget for any eventuality on the golf course. Dick was a loving husband, and his kind, gentle, patient manner made him a great father and gave him a soft touch with animals. If he raised his voice, it was only to praise. Dick lived a good life but will be sorely missed by his wife Loy, children Andrew, Kerry, and Steve, son-in-law Jim, daughter-in-law Shannon, LeAnn, and grandchildren too numerous to mention. A Funeral Mass for Dick will be held Monday, June 2, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene, ID, with a reception at the church to follow.
