KEENEY, Mildred Banks (Age 102) Mildred Klaveano-Banks-Keeney passed away peacefully at Fairview Assisted Living in Spokane, where she had been a resident for a number of years. She was born on December 16, 1911 in Endicott, WA to Harry Klaveano and Lydia Poffenroth Klaveano of Oakesdale, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Kenney, in 1985; and her sisters, Hazel Johnson, Martha Bane, and Margaret Llewellyn. Mildred is survived by her son, Jack O. Banks and his wife, Joy, of Medical Lake, WA; and daughters, Marjorie Stephens of Spokane; and Marion "Babe" Sulgrove and her husband, Emmett, of Springdale, WA; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred married Orville Banks in 1931. They resided in Springdale, WA, later moving to Garfield, WA for a short time, only to return to Springdale for the next sixteen years. Mildred was employed as a switchboard operator, and later worked at the Springdale Post Office for a number of years. In 1950, Mildred and Orville divorced. Mildred then became employed at the Davenport Hotel. She later moved to Pasadena, CA working as a dental technician. After two years, she returned to Spokane becoming a cardiogram technician at Sacred Heart Hospital. After five years, she moved to Yakima, WA and worked as a hostess supervisor at the Chinook Hotel. In 1984, she married Wallace Keeney. After his death in 1985, she became employed at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home for eleven years, after which she decided to retire at the age of 86! Graveside services will be held at the Spokane Memorial Gardens cemetery in Spokane on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 10am. Donations may be made in her memory to the Union Gospel Mission, 1224 E.
