HODGENS, Isaac "Walter" (Age 87) Passed away July 27th at the age of 87, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. Wally was born in Camden, New Jersey, on January 16th, 1927. He was raised on a family farm in western Pennsylvania. Before graduation from Trinity High School, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in World War II from 1944-1946 in both Europe and the Pacific. He moved to Butte, Montana, in 1948. He married Cecelia Skiviat in 1957 in Washington, PA. They lived in Butte for many years and several other cities in Montana. He worked in the food brokerage business throughout Montana. They moved to Spokane from Billings to be closer to family. His hobbies were poker at the Hilliard Senior Center, rooting for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates (at least while they were winning), and, in his younger days, fishing the wild trout streams of Montana. He is survived by his beloved wife Cecelia; sons, Thomas and John (Karyn); daughter Mary Beth (Kelly) Murphy. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lauren and Jocelyn Murphy, Nathan and Ryan Hodgens; and four nieces, Romona, Carmie, Patty, and Karen. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, at 9:45am at Washington State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be mailed in Wally's name to the Horizon Hospice in Spokane, 123 W. Cascade Way, Suite A, Spokane, WA 99208.
