ARCE, Manuel Thomás Manuel took a final job as Heaven's minority contractor, through the bonding of the love of Christ, on August 2nd, 2009. Born in Santiago, Chile, Manuel moved to the Pacific Northwest in the 1950's to work as an engineer for the Forest Service and for Stone and Webster, helping to complete the Rocky Reach Dam. He then worked in the hydraulic lab at W.S.U. and he eventually became a general contractor, residing in Spokane, WA. In 1959 Manuel married Sandra Sugg, of Wenatchee, WA. He is survived by Sandra, their two children, Julia and Antonio, and numerous cousins and relatives in Chile. Manuel was a gifted teacher, father, writer, soccer coach, and intellectual. His great dream was to return to his homeland, Chile. Manuel was a past member of the Spokane Symphony Board, the Spokane Club and the A.S.C.E. At his request, no formal memorial will be held, but a private mass of intention will be celebrated in the near future.
