GIAMPIETRI, Gabriel J. (Age 90) Passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 in Las Vegas NV. Gabe was born and raised in Spokane graduating from Lewis and Clark High School. Following high school he spent four years in the U.S. Army during WWII. Gabe did a number of things finally retiring after more than 20 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a quiet but loving man who was a wonderful father, brother and uncle. Gabe's passion was his garden where he raised fruit, vegetables and beautiful roses. He was also a talented cook. Gabe enjoyed taking walks and faithfully did it every day. A devout man, Gabe recited the Rosary twice a day using his departed wife's Rosary Beads for over 50 years. He is survived by his son James; brother Victor (Jody); sisters Yolanda DeFelice and Darlene (Larry) Koehler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Stella in 1959; parents Sam and Jenny; brother David; and sisters Louise Maio, Esther Gerenster and Loretta Giampietri, FSPA. Vigil service will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rose Chapel at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home 2203 N. Division.
