POFFENBERGER, Robert Larry Passed away August 31, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dad was born June 12, 1937 in Centerville, Iowa, son of Merle R. and Vonia E. (Robertson) Poffenberger. He grew up in San Diego, California, graduating from Grossmont High School in 1956. He met his sweetheart, Donna, on a blind date while in High School and married her in San Diego in 1958. Together for 52 years, they had seven children. In 1978, they moved to Veradale where they have been since. Dad worked for the phone company (Pacific Bell, Pacific Northwest Bell and AT&T) for over 33 years and continued with his own phone business for another 10 years. He loved his work and worked hard to provide for his family. We're still not sure he ever missed a day of work in his life. Dad enjoyed auto racing, especially sprint cars and NASCAR. Jeff and Jimmy have a big fan in Heaven. More than anything he loved his family. He loved to get the family together just so we could enjoy each other's company and make him laugh. His subtle jokes will be missed. He is survived by his wife Donna and children Terry (Kathy) of Spokane Valley, Tracie (Jeff) Hicks of Brunswick, Georgia, Dan (Keirstin) of Tooele, Utah, Duane (Emily), Heidi (Jeff) Guy and Nanci (Danny) Lawson of Spokane Valley, his brother Edwin (Anne) Poffenberger of San Diego, California, brother Richard (Janie) Poffenberger of Garden Grove, California and sister Esther (Tom) Braniff and numerous nieces and nephews. He has 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with three more on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Gary. A viewing will be held Friday, September 3rd at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd. from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the LDS Evergreen Chapel, 14111 E. 16th Ave., Spokane Valley on Saturday, September 4th at 10:00 a.m
