Connie Klaus Obituary

KLAUS, Connie R.
(Radonich), (DeGuire)

Wonderful mother, loving daughter, loyal sister, adoring grandmother and faithful friend flew up to heaven on the wings of angels with family by her side February 27, 2011. She fought a courageous, six year battle with Ovarian Cancer which is attributed to the excellent care she received from the doctors at Rockwood Clinic Oncology and Cancer Care Northwest. Connie was born in Spokane, WA. September 10, 1955 to James and Mary DeGuire. She is preceded in death by her first husband Dennis Radonich, her father James DeGuire, her baby sister Sherry DeGuire and baby brother H. John DeGuire. She married John Klaus in 1983; she was the proud mother of John Klaus Jr., Kevin Klaus, Joel Klaus and Suzanne Klaus (Roy Herrick). Loving Grandmother to Kaleb Herrick and Olivia Herrick. She leaves behind her mother, Mary DeGuire; her sisters, Carol (Jeff) Larson, Jaime (Jim) Thiel, Kathie (Les) McCollim, Jennie Jones; and brothers, Greg (Martha) DeGuire, Gary (Shari) DeGuire and Alan (Lori) DeGuire; numerous nephews and nieces. Friends too many to count. Connie's passion was being a homemaker and raising her family. She was an animal lover from her core and doted on her many dogs. Anyone she met along her way through life became her friend. Her smiles were famous for brightening a room or even a life. Connie was active in the Deaf Community of Spokane and attended many Deaf Conferences in Washington, Idaho and Oregon which allowed her to make friends from all over the country. She loved to swim and be near the water, she loved sunrises and sunsets, AND COFFEE. She loved vegetable and flower gardening. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and extraordinary inner strength. Connie and her family would like to thank the Palliative Care staff and nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital who went above and beyond in making her wish to meet and hold her granddaughter Olivia, born February 21, 2011. A celebration of her life will be held at 11am Saturday, March 5, 2011, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th , Spokane, WA. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Sacred Heart Palliative Care or Scraps.

I am saddened of the loss of a awesome friend who I admired for her determination to live life at its fullest despite the disadvantages of being deaf or hard of hearing like myself. Her hospitality and service to her friends will never be forgotten. I will treasure the memories of our times together.
My thoughts and prayers to her family.

Connie was a great neighbor and friend. I learned alot about deaf folks and the struggles they have in a non-deaf friendly world. Thanks Connie for always being that sunny person next door. Thanks for sharing your wonderful children with us. You did a great job raising them, they are good people. I am so happy that you got to experience being a Grandparent, that is a wonderful, wonderous thing. I share sign with folks I know, in your honour. You will be greatly missed by many. Love to you and yours. Peace.

My thoughts and prayers are all with you and your family at this time.

I went to the Davis School with Connie oh so many years ago. My Mom, Katherine Anderson and my sister Joan Dickerson ,who were Connie's teachers both asked me to pass on their condolences to the family.

I will always remember Connie for her smile and her BIG hugs I always got from her. I remember how she loved her flowers, her animals and she proudly showed me her gorgeous koi fish pond she had made one time too.

Rest in peace, Connie, and you will never be forgotten Love you always, Sharon (Anderson) Corbit
