Of Priest River passed away August 1, 2011 at his home in Priest River. Clarence was born February 16, 1932 in Pierre, South Dakota the son of Warren Wesley and Luella Gertrude (Hall) Corning. Clarence was 18 months old when the family moved to Caldwell, ID where he attended school until 1949 when the family moved to Idaho Hill and he finished his last two years of high school at Priest River. Clarence entered the Army in 1951 as he courted Phyllis Ann Brittain and they married in 1953. The couple lived at Fort Lewis until his discharge and moved Priest River where he gained employment at Doolittle Sawmill in Priest River. He also worked at Diamond, Austin Meyers Pulp Yards, Western Farmer and finally at Albeni Falls Building Supply until his retirement in 1994.

Clarence loved to fish and work on crafts with his wife Phyllis in their workshop, gardening, camping, rebuilding old motors and antiques for friends, he helped several young folks build projects for church and scouts. He also loved bluegrass music and in the early '70s he even played music at the Little Opry Hall in Troy, MT for Canadian television.

Clarence is survived by his wife Phyllis at their home in Priest River; two sons, Kenneth (Arlene) of Blanchard and Steven (Maxine) of Mead; grandchildren, Sarah, Alan, Amanda, Nate and Matthew, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ed.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at 11AM at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River.
