Bruce Hopp

1949 - 2016

Bruce Hopp was born December 1949 in Spokane, Washington; the second born son of Bobbi and Dick Hopp. After receiving an education at St Charles Parish School and Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Bruce enlisted and served in the United States Navy Reserve. Following his service, Bruce graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University of Washington. In 1973, Bruce met the loves of his life, Carolyn and Wanda in Vancouver WA. Carolyn and Bruce were married for 35 years. He loved spending his free time plotting a way to clean his work-shop / garage and complete the list of “Honey-do’s” left by his wife. He was an active volunteer in numerous organizations, coached many of his daughter’s basketball and soccer teams, and served as the neighborhood handyman. His professional career spanned over 40 years in the service, event management and entertainment industries. The last 15 years of his career were spent at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL in Disney’s Wide World of Sports, the Water Parks, and the Disney Entertainment Group. He retired from Disney in 2009. Bruce is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his daughter, Wanda; canine Dieter; his brothers, Richard, Tracy, Bryan, Jerry, Jonathan Hopp and Steve Cole; his sisters, Mary Quist and Barbara Griffiths, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring, with notice to follow. Bruce departed this life on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 after a valiant fight against lymphoma. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
