News Death Notice

LINTON, Christy L. 58, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2013 in his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Springfield on May 9, 1955, the son of the late Gene L. and Carol (Griffith) Linton. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Christy worked in security at Mercy Medical Center for 25 years. He was a member of St. Joseph/St. Raphael Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marilyn (Puhala) Linton; four daughters, Heather, (Mark) Watson of Columbus, Tiffany Linton of Springfield, Holly (Bill) Kimberlin of Gregory, Michigan, and Tammi (Danny) McGhee of Springfield; two sons, Chris Linton of Springfield and Rick (Kari) Cafeo of Alexandria, Virginia; and fourteen grandchildren, Beatrice, Augustus and Eloise Watson, Chloe Flaker, Jaxon Neer, Emily and Abigail Kimberlin, Michael Bobst, Noah Cafeo, Christopher, Dallas and Balin McGhee, and Kyle and Kevin Cafeo. Also surviving are two sisters, Melanie (Joe) Reed of Springfield and Tonya (Marty) Gray of South Carolina; two brothers, Randy (Dawn) Linton and Robin (Melody) Linton, both of South Vienna; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Fr. Dennis Caylor will preside at the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church. Burial with military honors will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
