Clara C. HEROLD


News Death Notice

HEROLD, Clara C. 87, of Springfield passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 in Eaglewood Senior Community. She was born in La Grange, Ohio on May 7, 1925, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Carr) Younglas. She retired as an accountant from Taggert Building & Supply in 1989 after twenty years of service. Prior to that time she worked for Dr. Howard Z. Dredge for ten years. After retirement, she volunteered her time as a bookkeeper for St. Raphael Church where she was a lifelong member and a member of In Mary's Name Sodality. Other volunteer work included serving as a Eucharistic minister, helping at the Treasure Chest, Rainbow Table and St. Vincent DePaul. Clara loved her family, church, playing cards, gardening, reading, and having lunch 'with the girls'. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Kathy (Tim) Rigel, Linda (Don) Cochenour, Andrea Smith all of Springfield; son Joseph (Betty) Herold of Concord, GA; grandchildren Nick (Mindy) Rigel, Ryan, Liz, Jamie and Timmy Rigel; Justin Smith, Kyle (Jill) Hook, Joey and Erica Herold, along with ten great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Margaret Roffey, brother, Tom (Jane) Younglas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joseph E. Herold, parents, sister, Mary Cornish, brother, Robert Younglas, and son-in-law Perry Holderby. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday October 7th in the Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Raphael Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Clara's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 70 Birch Alley, Suite 240, Beavercreek, OH 45440.
