News Death Notice

JOHNSON, Edna Mae Reed 90, passed away peacefully at home with her family on May 16, 2013. Edna was born on March 17, 1923, in Urbana, OH to Ruth Reed Alexander and was raised by Anna and Albert Evilsizor, her "grandparents" for whom she had a special affection. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (Grandma J), aunt, wife and friend. She spent her life quietly and lovingly caring for others, whether it was through word or deed. She had an energetic, curious spirit and a life-long interest in discovering how things worked. A talented seamstress, baker, cook and gardener, Edna selflessly shared her knowledge and experience with family and friends. She carried on family traditions from her childhood, and created new ones, all of which are now touching the fourth generation. She was a founding member of the Clifton Avenue Church of God. Edna is survived by many family members including her daughter and son in-law, Madge and Charles Morris; grandchildren Jennifer Morris, Ph. D. (Bryan Walters), Elaine Morris Roberts, Ed. D. and Bradley Johnson Morris, Ph. D. (Shannon Zentall, Ph. D.); great-grandchildren Collin and Ian Roberts, Ethan and Violet Morris, Emilie Helman and Elyse Walters; nieces Jeanie Haythe and Deann Wick; and great-nephew Bryce Haythe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carlton (Cash) Johnson, brother and sister-in-law Donald and Ethel Reed, her mother and the Evilsizors. The family wishes to thank Community Mercy Hospice for its compassionate assistance to make the final days of Edna's life dignified and comfortable.
