News Death Notice

ANDERKIN, Edward C. 78, of Springfield went to be with the Lord Sunday March 9, 2014 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born September 22, 1935 in Berea, Kentucky, the son of Huey and Janet (Owens) Anderkin. Edward loved to work and retired from H.S. Stevenson & Sons in 1997 after 36 years of service. He was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible since 1957 and was very active there as a Sunday School superintendent and teacher, youth leader, Trustee, and Elder. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joyce (Ross) Anderkin; children, Pamela K. (Carl R.) Pulver III of Springfield, Eric W. Anderkin of Tremont City, Darrin E. (Vicki) Anderkin of Springfield; grandchildren, Katie (Joshua), Carl (Emily), Darrin Lee (Jammie), Destine (Brandon), Curtis (Brenda), and Ashley (Rocky); 12 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, James (Joy) Anderkin, Ronnie (Candy) Anderkin, Jessie Foster, Darlene (Bob) Fry, all of Springfield, and Irene Myers of Tremont City; sister-in-law, Shari (William) Snyder of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and his church family. He was preceded in death by daughter, Penny Bell Anderkin; son, Anthony Allen Anderkin; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday in the First Church of the Open Bible, 644 Selma Road, with Pastor James Ballard officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Church of the Open Bible. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES-KENNEY- ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
