News Death Notice

NICHOLS, Hazel E. 89, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 in Essex of Springfield. She was born August 31, 1924, in Xenia, Ohio, the daughter of Clarence E. and Pearl A. (Boyer) Drummond. Hazel was a 1943 graduate of Springfield High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Hazel was preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Ann Daugherty; seven brothers and four sisters. Her survivors include her daughters Joyce E. Stover and Tina G. Etayem of Springfield; a sister Emma (Dallas) Swift of Seminole, FL; grandchildren Doug and Denise Daugherty, Jeff (Karen) Adams, Chris Adams, Jon (Samantha) Stover, Sean (Amanda) Mitchell and Shane (Rachel) Mitchell; great-grandchildren Jenna Caudill, Brittanie Hatfield, Lacie Daugherty, Tyler Alexander, Stephen and Tyler Adams, Emily Adams, Jordann, Kennedy and Madi Stover, Tabitha Daugherty and "Lil" Sean Mitchell; a great-great granddaughter Stella Adams; numerous nieces and nephews. A service to honor Hazel's memory will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME, with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the start of service. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Essex of Springfield for their devoted care.
