News Death Notice

ROHRER, Jack R. 79, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, 2-12-14 in his residence. He was born 1-24-1935 in New Holland, Ohio, the son of Raymond and Viola (Swisher) Rohrer. He graduated from Springfield High in 1953. Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served our country proudly during the Korean War. He retired from International Harvester with 40 years of service and later worked 17 years at Security National Bank as a courier. Jack was a member of Anthony Lodge #455, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, UAW Local 658 and a deacon at First Christian Church. He was past president of the Northeastern Boosters Club and a vice president of Springfield Jaycees. Jack enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and was an avid supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley A. Rohrer; three sons, Christopher (Sue) of Piqua, Mark (Jennifer) of Hilliard and Steven (Tracy) Rohrer of Ringgold, Georgia; ten grandchildren, Tyler (Kim), Seth, Erin (Matt) Wolfe, Ethan, Lani, Christina, Maya, Nolan, Zane and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Anna and Christian; brother-in-law, Pete (Joyce) Gregory; sister-in-law, Annie Mae and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tommy. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, 2-14-14 from 11 am to 1 pm in First Christian Church. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm in the church with Pastor Craig Grammer officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
