Jerry L. KUNKLE


News Death Notice

KUNKLE, Jerry L. 75, of Springfield, died Saturday evening, October 12, 2013 in Miami Valley Hospital as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was born in Springfield on October 13, 1937, the youngest of thirteen children to David and Ruth (Von Huben) Kunkle. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a tool and die maker from SPECO following 32 years of service. He was a member of the Union Club where he served as a trustee for nine years, Machinists Club, F.O.E. Aerie 397, and the Moose Lodge. Jerry was an avid Harley rider and was a lifetime member of H.O.G. He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Penny J. (Shipton) Kunkle; two sons, Jerry (Pati) Kunkle Jr. and Scott (Keely) Kunkle of Enon; an 'honorary son', Jim Haynes; a brother, Bill (Nancy) Kunkle of Springfield; five grandchildren, Zak (Holly) Crosthwaite, Shay Kunkle, Nikki Kunkle, Trey (Amber) Kunkle, and Quentin (Alicia) Kunkle; great grandchildren, Chloe, Kyler, Tessa, and Jordan; countless nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companion, Keila. Also surviving are Penny's sisters and brother, Vicki (Mike) Fitzwater, Linda (Jim) Harris, Patti Malone, Karen Combs, Timmy Shipton, and Tonya Frock. He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven brothers and sisters. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Jerry's funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor David Hill officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in Ferncliff Cemetery.
