News Death Notice

CONNORS, John Leslie "Jack" 88, of Springfield, Ohio, died on November 1, 2012. He was born in Dorchester, MA on August 30, 1924, the son of John Joseph and Lilian (Blades) Connors, who preceded him in death. He married Marie Tehan of Springfield on April 6, 1948. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps and served in North Africa, Palestine, and Turkey. He was employed by Bell Telephone prior to a 30+ year career with Steel Products Engineering Company. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3737 and served for a period as their Grand Knight. He was a parishioner of St. Teresa Catholic Church and an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles, the Elks, and Northwood Hills Country Club. An avid golfer, he enjoyed not only playing golf, but also golf club repair and refinishing. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; four sons, John and Karen, of Morgantown, WV; James, of Carlsbad, CA; Stephen and Sandy, of Creston, CA; Philip and Tina, of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Kanoa, John, Gabriel, Matthew, Michael, Chandra, Corey, Audrey, Jack, Samuel, and Sara; six great grandchildren, James, Michael, Kael, Matthew, William, and Lewie; and a brother, Russell and Eunice Connors, of Bowie, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 10, at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. in the church. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. Arrangements are by CONROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to St. Teresa Catholic Church or the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
