News Death Notice

RUSSELL, John R. 62, of S. Charleston, died unexpectedly Friday morning, February 28, 2014 in Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born in Springfield on March 8, 1951, the son of the late Herbert T. and Margaret Imogene (Gruber) Russell. John was a retired truck driver. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed bowling and playing his guitar. In his younger days, he was proud of being a Springfield Reserve Police Officer. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Brenda (Carter) Russell; three sons, Sean, Scott and Steven Russell, all of Springfield; a step-son, Michael (Amanda) Carter; grandchildren, Jordan and Kacie Russell, Lynn and Tyler Russell, and Brittany and Dylan Carter; a sister, Betty Rapp of South Carolina; a brother, Mickey (Charlotte) Russell of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Fred, Barney, Duchess, and Bandit. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Thomas and Timmy. John's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Craig Grammer officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. You may express condolences to the family at
