News Death Notice

MILLER, Lena B. Loving Mother and Mamma, passed peacefully from her earthly home into the arms of her Lord and Savior June 30, 2014 with her family by her side at Heartland of Urbana. What a day she is having being with the Lord and reunited with her loved ones and friends that have gone on before her. Lena was born on January 1, 1914 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Christina Walke. She spent her early days living in Ironton, Ohio and returning to Springfield when she was 11, then doing many different jobs until her 20's when she worked for Walgreens in the Cleveland area as a manager. Lena returned to Springfield to marry her (Honey) Harold Miller, and a few years later becoming a stay at home Mom after their daughter was born. She loved working in her flower gardens, cooking, helping with dinners at her Church, and playing the piano. Lena was a woman of great faith and she always was quick to say "Good Lord will take care of me." She attended Clifton Avenue Church of God until she was unable to go to church any longer. She loved kids and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also taught Junior Church during the morning service for the children. She enjoyed this so much and loved all the children she taught planting seeds into their lives about the love of Jesus. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Carl Davis, 2 grandchildren, Angela Lewis, and Jeremy (Kristine) Lewis. 2 step-granddaughters Erica (Eric) Sparks, and Lisa (David) Plassman, 4 great-granddaughters, Lauren (Patrick) Myers, Shannon Johnson, Shelby and Taylor Lewis, 5 step-great-grandchildren, Austin, Alex, & Addison Sparks and Nicholas and Leah Plassman. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, brothers Henry and Wells, sister Margaret as well as many relatives and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday July 7, 2014 in the Hillside Church of God, 2021 Hillside Avenue with Rev. Ted Corns officiating.
