GANT, Sr., Michael Leroy 66, of Springfield, Ohio passed away on Sunday February 23, 2014 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born May 31, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Phillip and Anna Conerly. He attended Ips school and Manual High School. He joined the Navy at the age of eighteen. He confessed his life to Christ at a young age. Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends having cookouts, and swimming parties. In 1975 Michael put together and coached a men and women basketball teams, a youth boys and girls basketball team called the Bruins in Indianapolis, Indiana for four years. He also owned and operated Michael's Barber Shop for over five years. Among his many accomplishments he was very proud of the live radio broadcast he had on AM 1310, the light called, A Portrait of Love. In his leisure time he enjoyed taking his boat out on the water and fishing for hours, he also enjoyed having dogs and they loved him. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Anna Conerly and three brothers Paul Dukett, Clinton Dukett and Robert Turner one son Jamie. He leaves to cherish his memories and love to the beautiful and lovely Beatrice Wade of twenty five years, his children Ronnetta(Derrick), Michael Leroy(Linda), Crystalina (Lee), Nichole, Charles, Michelle (Kenneth), Mika Lee(Oezlem), Mieshia, Jasmine, Jessica, Ameria (Leron) Deedra and Michael Alexander twenty three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two brothers Charles Dukett and Joseph (Marcella) Dukett and two sisters Clara Conerly, Pat Conerly a special aunt Connie Andrews a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Service for Michael L. Gant will be held Saturday March 1, 2014 at Greater Grace Temple 308 West Leffel Lane Springfield, Ohio. Visitation will be 9:00am until time of service which will be at 10:00am with Bishop Ronald Logan Officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Springfield, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls-Dunlap Funeral Home.
