Naomi V. HOKE

News Death Notice

HOKE, Naomi V. Age 95, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died Tuesday July 8, 2014 under the care of Hospice at Community Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Her earthly suffering has ended, and she is with her Lord. Naomi was born on August 8, 1918, in New Carlisle, Ohio, the youngest daughter of Harry B. and Ida Mae (Walter) Hoke. She graduated from New Carlisle High School and in 1941 Taylor University with a B.S. in Education. She taught second grade at Emerson School in the Dayton area for more than 25 years. Naomi was active in The United Missionary Church throughout her life time where she served on the board, taught Sunday school, and directed Junior and Primary Children's church Programs. Each year she was Dean of Women for the Youth Camp at Ludlow Falls Camp. Naomi was an accomplished gardener and queen of hospitality, entertaining often with her home grown produce. Her door was always open to a relative, friend, or anyone in need. A skilled baker and cake decorator, each of her nieces and nephews along with many friends, received the loving gift of a handmade skillfully decorated hickory nut wedding cake. In her kitchen a jar of cookies always was full for the sneaking as Naomi outlived numerous vintages of Kitchenaid mixers. Naomi was well known as a dedicated prayer warrior who with unconditional love never missed an opportunity to share her faith in God with others. Naomi leaves the greatest gift of all: a stellar example as a Christian woman. She was a devoted daughter, a loyal sister, and a loving aunt. She is survived by four nephews and four nieces. She is predeceased by four siblings: Mary Hoke, Frances (William) Doenges, Samuel (Esther) Hoke, Ruth (Harold) House, and one nephew Paul (Corrine) Hoke. Funeral services will be held at 11: a.m. on Wednesday the 16th of July at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, in New Carlisle with Rev. Gerald Steele officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday July 15th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the New Carlisle Cemetery.
