McCOY, III Nathan A. "Nate" age 80, of Marysville, formerly of Columbus, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at The Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville. A grain and cattle farmer, he enjoyed collecting and restoring toy die-cast tractors and farm equipment. He loved dogs and cherished the time with his canine "boy," Jerico. Years ago, he traveled the state as a crop insurance adjuster. He will be most remembered as a fun-loving and "ornery" grandpa and a devoted father. He was a dedicated husband and truly missed his late wife's companionship the past 13 years. A 1952 graduate of Dublin High School, he was a member of the State Championship teams in both football and baseball. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Union Post 79 and VFW Post 3320, both in Marysville. He was born February 18, 1934 in Columbus to the late Nathan A. and Florence Thompson McCoy, Jr. He was also predeceased by his wife, Nancy Khune McCoy; his brother, John McCoy; his sister, Jane Carlos Fladt; and a nephew, Bert Carlos, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Frank) Smith of Marysville and Teri (Jerry) Donnelly of North Hampton; his grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Smith of Dublin, Tiffany (Jeff) Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Danielle (Justin) McDaniel of Marysville and Michelle (Tyler) Reed of Galena, Kelly Donnelly of Springfield and Mark (Beth) Donnelly and Kevin (Nikki) Donnelly, both of New Carlisle; his great-grandchildren, Larkin Smith, Waylon and Phalor McDaniel, Vera and Celia Reed, Madison Donnelly and Shelton Donnelly; his nieces and nephews, John (Gail) Carlos, John McCoy, LeAnn (Ed) Fausnaugh and Patrice (Bill) Paider; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Chapel Evangelical Friends Church. Rev. Andy Albertini will officiate. Burial will be beside his wife at Dublin Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Mark and Kevin Donnelly, Justin McDaniel, Tyler Reed and Matt Hobbs.
