News Death Notice

PERKINS, Robert Edward "Perk" 68, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday April 22nd 2014. He was born June 28, 1945 in Hillsboro, Ohio the son of Vincent and Hulda (Gibson) Perkins. Perk was the life of the party and lived life to the fullest. His family and friends were so important to him, but it was his true love, Rvena, of 48 years that had his heart. Perk was a hard worker and retired from Navistar after 32 years. He enjoyed being a member of the VFW and received an outstanding volunteer award in 2012 after 35 years of being a member. He also enjoyed being apart of the Union club and DAV. Perk was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers Vincent, Roger, and Larry; 2 sisters Helen Martin, Lily Mae Ware; and 3 grandchildren Brad Tyler Potts, McKenna Marie Perkins and Gracie Mae Vest. He is survived by his wife Rvena; his children, Gail (Dave) Hughes, Tracy (Lori) Perkins, Tina (Randy) Matlack, Rodney Perkins, James Vest and Darrell Viers; 3 sisters, Blanche (Lee) Mann, Sharlene (Edgul) Estep and Barb Doss; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Perk's life will be Saturday, April 26th 2014 at 1:30 PM. in the Memorial Home with Barry Hardin and Jon Edmonds officiating. Following interment in Rose Hill Mausoleum, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the DAV, 2410 Mechanicsburg Rd., Springfield, OH 45503.
