News Death Notice

MABIN, Roger D. 78, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday evening, August 20, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center following several years of failing health. He was born in Springfield on September 12, 1934, the son of the late Albert C. and Amy E. (Stitzel) Mabin. Roger worked as an electrician for Hawkins Electric for over 30 years and retired as a supervisor from WPAFB in 1996. He was a member of IBEW Local 683 for 59 years. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna P. (French) Mabin; five children, Karen Martin (Roger Jenkins) of New Carlisle, Marcia (Rick) Moore-Pauer of Enon, Lori Mabin of New Carlisle, Amy Mabin, and Darrel (Keli) Mabin of New Carlisle; three step-children, Karen McGee, Steve (Deb) Kimble and Chuck (Karen) Kimble, all of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Bob Chance, Sam Lewis and Harry Shoop, his many friends and co-workers at the Old Timers Lunch at Tickets and Rouch's in Fairborn, and his high school classmates. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Community Mercy Hospice, Dr. Mark Roberto and the staff at Springfield Family Services. A celebration of Roger's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in Smith Park, New Carlisle (West Jefferson St.). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service as well as immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice, 444 W.
