News Death Notice

HAMMOND, Rozena F. "Nanny" 80, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in her home. She was born September 22, 1933 in Morehead, KY, the daughter of Estill and Ada (Wilder) Mays. Nanny had worked in retail shoe sales, and she was an avid reader who enjoyed doing crosswords. Survivors include sons, Victor Hammond and Nick Hammond; daughter, Vicki Shook; special daughter-in-law, Anita Sims, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Brandon and Kathy Hammond, Brad and Sherylynn Hammond, Andre Hammond, Edward Hammond, and Ben and Alex Russell; great-grandchildren, Domenick Shook, Layton, Hunter, and Xander Hammond; sister, Thelma Roberts; sister-in-law, Sudie Reynolds, both of Springfield; Special Coffee Friend, Leonard Brown; and several nieces and nephews whom she was extremely close to. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hammond; her parents; son, Rick Hammond; granddaughter, Heidi Shook; sisters, Delphia McGuffey, Wanda Barker, and Della Dersch; and brother, Bernard Reynolds. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday in the JONES-KENNEY- ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Orbie Estep officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00am until the time of services. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
