News Death Notice

RICHARDSON, Stella L. 96, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Eaglewood Skilled Care Unit in Springfield. She was born May 26, 1916 in Maple Meadow, West Virginia. She moved to Springfield in the late 40's and lived there until her death. She worked at Cavalon & Lehman Cleaners for 26 years as an interior designer. Stella was a member of the American Business Women's Association Chapter of Springfield her entire adult life and was awarded Business Women of the year in 1976. Being a very avid bowler for over fifty years, she received a lifetime membership in the WIBC and was inducted into the Springfield District Hall of Fame in May of 2000. She held various positions on the Springfield Association Board of Directors throughout the years and had too many trophies and awards to count. Survivors include her two daughters, Bettie Jean Rutledge of Monkey Island, Oklahoma and Billie June Hassinger of Olathe, Kansas; one son, Cameron Martin of Buie's Creek, North Carolina; two sisters, Estelle Collins and Ruby Pauley; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Richardson. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Welch officiating. A private service will be held at the family cemetery in Maple Meadow, West Virginia.
