News Death Notice

HIXON, Stephen D. 48, of Springfield, passed away January 1, 2013 in Villa Springfield. He was born May 16, 1964 in Springfield the son of Howard and Cyrilla M. (Cooper) Hixon. Steve lived more than 40 years at the F.F. Mueller Residential Center. He made friendships with his housemates and the people that cared for him. He was adventurous and had a great sense of humor. He appreciated classical music and warm sunny days. Steve had attended Town and Country School. Steve worked at Quest Adult Services (TAC Industries) for 26 years doing vocational programming. He had many friends and staff that gave him wonderful care and support. Steve enjoyed his time spent at Quest, and he appreciated his friends and care that he received on the bus and at Quest. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sisters, Marilyn (Frank) Demma, Springfield and Anita (Kent) Hager, Tampa; one brother, Greg (Kelly) Hixon, South Charleston; nieces and nephews, Mark (Danielle), Andrew, Christopher (Brittney), Chad, James (Suzanne), Brad, Jessica and Nicole (J); his friends at F.F. Mueller Center and Quest and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 2003, his nephew, Casey in 2012 and his nephew, Joseph in 1982. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to F.F. Mueller Activity Fund or QUEST, Inc. Steve will be missed by his family and those who cared for him - especially his Mueller family. He will be missed for his teasing and his laughter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Family will gather one hour prior beginning at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
