Sue Ann (Creamer) CONFER


News Death Notice

CONFER, Sue Ann (Creamer) 76, of Springfield passed away January 18, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton following a 5-month battle with biliary cancer. Sue was born February 15, 1937 in Springfield. She was baptized in Central Methodist Church. Lived in Mount Clemens, MI where she attended eight years at Trinity Lutheran School while her father spent the years during WWII at Selfridge AFB. They moved back to Springfield in 1950. Sue graduated from Springfield High School in 1954. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Wittenberg University in 1961. She taught in the Springfield City Schools for 32 years: 1 year at Frey, 19 at Bushnell, and 12 years at Fulton. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority at Wittenberg. Sue was a 50-year member and held many offices, including president of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators, an honorary teachers' society. For many years, she served as President of the Springfield Public Schools Credit Union. Sue was a life member of CCRTA (Clark County Retired Teachers Association), ORTA (Ohio Retired Teachers Association) and OEA (Ohio Education Association). She was also a member of The Ohio State University Parents' Association. Over the years she volunteered for numerous organizations and enjoyed community service. As a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church she was active in many of the groups and guilds. Sue served as Treasurer of Oesterlen Women's Auxiliary. She was a member of The Young Woman's Mission and previously served as Treasurer. She was also a Volunteer at Community Hospital. Sue was an avid reader, bridge player, and lived to have fun. She loved traveling and being with friends and family. Dominoes, card clubs, birthday group and socializing were among her favorite pastimes. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Grant Creamer and Marjorie Pauline (Crabbe) Creamer, and her husband, George Richard "Dick" Confer. She is survived by her son James Michael Confer (Lindsay Henkels), St. Davids, PA and her son Robert Eric (Patricia) Confer of Springfield. Sue is also survived by many, many friends and numerous family members. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 pm in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1801 St Paris Pike, Springfield with Pastor Daniel M. Powell and Pastor Beverly C. DeBord officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Sue's name to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
