News Death Notice

THOMPSON, Jr., Thomas B. "Johnny" 77, of Springfield, formerly of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday night, June 24, 2014. He was born on September 20, 1936 in Prestonsburg, the son of Thomas B. Sr. and Idola (Hale) Thompson. He graduated from Prestonsburg High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University, and his Master's in Education at Xavier University. He taught Physical Education for three years and then began a long career in school administration. Mr. Thompson was the first Principal hired at Kenton Ridge High School finished in 1984. He moved to Cincinnati and was Assistant Superintendent of Clermont County Schools retiring from Ohio in 1990. Following retirement he took a Principals job with Blaine Elementary in Lawrence County Kentucky. He was a season ticket holder and avid fan of UK Basketball and Xavier Basketball. Johnny is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: John B. Thompson of Middleton, and Tom and Laura (Burns) Thompson of Springfield, and grandchildren: Bryanna, Natalie, Edward, Derek, and Justin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Thompson. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. You may express condolences at
