News Death Notice

HARPER, Timothy J.A. "TJ" 31, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014. He was born in Springfield on January 21, 1983, the son of Timothy Harper and Jacqueline Burkitt. TJ was a passionate fisherman and won several Crappie tournaments around the country with his fishing partner, Paul Eldridge. He is survived by his parents; wife of seven years, Michelle R. (Drummond) Harper; two daughters, Caroline D. and Bella M. Harper; a brother, Tye Harper; and grandparents, Geri "Mamaw" Burkitt, Catherine "Granny Kate" Hartman and John Harper. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Vicki (Tim) Johnson, Rick (Jennifer) Burkitt and Jimmy (Reanna) Burkitt; several cousins including, special cousins, Camio Johnson, and Whitney (Denver) Thompson; many good friends including best friends, Patrick Nesbitt, Dave Lanum and Joe Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved Papaw, Buck Burkitt. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. TJ's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Britton officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions to benefit TJ's daughters may be made to the Caroline and Bella Harper Fund c/o any Huntington Bank Branch.
