William A. NELSON


News Death Notice

NELSON, William A. "Bill" 73, of Springfield, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on May 15, 1940, the son of the late Rev. William R. and Freda Jane (Byers) Nelson. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an agent with Rice Insurance for many years and retired from American Heritage Insurance. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church where he loved singing in the choir. He was active in many levels of Tecumseh Council Boy Scouts of America and was a long-time Scoutmaster with Troop 9 at First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jo Anne; son, Scott W. Nelson of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Beth A. Nelson of Arlington, Virginia; sister, Deloris (John) Woodburn of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Bill's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Pastors Ken Whitt and Jason Alspaugh officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
