News Death Notice

BRUGGER, Anne Lorraine (OBrien) 77, of Urbana, passed away July 2, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on July, 14, 1934, the daughter of Raymond and Catherine (Garry) O'Brien. Anne was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary High School and dedicated her life to her faith, family and friends. Along with her husband, Lawrence Brugger, whom she married January 17, 1953, she raised six children and retired as an area manager with Dutchmaid Clothing, Inc. after 30 years of service. A devout Roman Catholic, Anne was a member of St. Margaret Mary Traditional Roman Catholic Chapel, Urbana and the Rosary Confraternity. Her daily recitation of the Holy Rosary exemplified her love for God and special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by six children and their spouses, Lawrence (Elisia) Brugger, Jr. of Springfield, Geri (Mark) Lorensen, Kerry (Kathy) Brugger, Anna Marie (Larry) Chamberlain, Thomas (Julie) Brugger, Valeria (Steve) Upchurch all of Urbana, and special cousin Kathleen Shannon, her husband Tim and their two children, along with 34 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Additionally, Anne is survived by her brothers J. Terrence (JoAnn) O'Brien of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Thomas (Judie) O'Brien of Urbana, her sisters Colleen Teets of Urbana and Sharon (Gary) Young of Lincoln, Nebraska, numerous nieces and nephews, and her cherished cousins, affectionately referred to as the "Irish Clan" of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and five infant children, Raymond William, Catherine Marie, Stephen Vincent, Mary and Joseph. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME, Springfield, with a Requiem Mass immediately following at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Fr. James Thielen officiating. Burial will be held immediately following in St. Bernard Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, Anne's wishes are that donations/Mass requests be sent to St. Margaret Mary Chapel, 1000 Scioto St., Urbana, OH 43078. Donations may also be sent in her memory to VITAS Hospice, 3055 Kettering Blvd., Suite 320, Dayton, OH 45439.
