News Death Notice

DIETRICH, Donn E. 83, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 27, 1930 in Wheeling, West Virginia the son of Albert Graydon and Nell (Stanton) Dietrich. Donn graduated from Springfield High School and then served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1956 he graduated from Wittenberg University and later went to work for Wallace & Turner retiring after over 35 years in the insurance business. He volunteered his time planning fundraising golf tournaments for Junior Achievement, participating with the Summer Arts Festival stage productions, and was a longtime member of the High Street United Methodist Church and church choir. Donn enjoyed playing golf especially at the Springfield Country Club where he was a member, had an artistic talent for making stained glass window hangings, and made and flew model airplanes. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy (Pennington) Dietrich, three children: Cinda (Josh) Coldwell of Cleveland Heights, Andee (John) Koczak of Springboro, and David (Cassie) Dietrich of Wooster; two grandchildren, Claire and Chris Koczak. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 5-8:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the High Street United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the High Street United Methodist Church Choir or Community Mercy Hospice, 444 W. Harding Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45504. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Marvin Narcelles, Dr. J.
