News Death Notice

BERRIEN, Earl D. peacefully passed away on the morning of November 27, 2012. Earl was born on July 16, 1919 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Thomas and Lillian Berrien. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty Louise Hammond; two daughters, Melanie Berrien Williams and Joy Lyn Berrien, a son Kyl L. Berrien, and three brothers, Melvin, Clarence, and Elwood. Earl retired from Navistar after 30 years of service, had a special gift in carpentry that he shared by helping others whenever needed. He loved photography and took classes at Clark StateCollege. Earl also enjoyed gardening, traveling, and retelling amusing stories of his experiences. He had a wonderful and encouraging spirit. A desire to uplift others brought joy to many and will sadly be missed. Earl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind to cherish his memory six sons, Dale Berrien of Philadelphia, PA; Adrian (Evelyn) Berrien and Rex (Jennie) Berrien all of Springfield; Neil (Jane) Berrien of Marietta, GA; Jon Tod (Toya) Berrien, Keith (Reaver) Jackson all of Columbus, OH and three daughters, Varga Berrien, Bettina Berrien and Andria Lassiter all of Springfield. Earl is also survived by a devoted brother, Maurice (Alpha) Berrien, a number of grandsons, granddaughters, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. Services for Earl D. Berrien will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Porter - Qualls - Dunlap Funeral Home. 823 South Yellow Springs St Springfield, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 3:00PM until time of service which will be at 5:00pm. Interment will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM, Calvary Cemetery Springfield, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to Porter - Qualls - Dunlap Funeral Home.
