News Death Notice
PENCIL, Herbert E. 103, of Springfield, went to be with his Lord Monday, March 4, 2013. He was born September 25, 1909, a son of Elmer & Flora (McFarland) Pencil in North Hampton, OH. Herbert was a lifelong member of the Maiden Lane Church of God and was involved in the bus ministry and many other church building projects through the years. He married Ida Jane Crissman on January 14, 1929 and they were married 79 years. She preceded him in death in 2009. Herbert loved to travel and has traveled and fished all of the North American states and provinces. He was a pilot and heavy duty diesel mechanic for many years. He is survived by his granddaughters, Lynette (Bob) Niswonger, Sondra (Ed) Todd, and Sylvia (Bob) Hypes; 5 great-grandchildren; 11 great- great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Calvin, William, Jasper and Edgar, sisters, Fannie, Lola, Ethel, Lena, Charlotte and Hulda; sons, Harold and Larry, and great-grandson Chad Hypes. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8 in the JACKSON, LYTLE, WILLIAMS Funeral Home, and services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Martin officiating. Interment to follow in Myers Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Myers Cemetery Association or Maiden Lane Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the service.
