News Death Notice

STAMPER, James "Elwood" 69, of Springfield passed away Friday February 15, 2013. He was born April 8, 1943 in Springfield, the son of John and Ada (Crew) Stamper. Elwood was a member of the Hillside Avenue Church of God. He belonged to the Union Club and the Machinist Club, and he ran the National Trails softball league. He had been employed at Navistar. Survivors include one daughter; Jamie, sister; Esther Clark of North Lewisburg, special cousin; Judie Stapleton of Springfield, one niece, three nephews, friends and family from the dark side at the Union Club, and friends at Jimmy T's. He was preceded in death by a brother; Donald Stamper and his parents. A celebration of Elwood's life will be held at 6:00PM Wednesday upstairs in the Union Club. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Friday in the Hillside Avenue Church of God with Pastors Timothy Downing and Mike Criner officiating. Friends may call for one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements are being handled by the JONES -KENNEY- ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
