PFAU, Jerome Joseph "Jerry" 87, of Simsbury, CT, beloved husband of the late Thelma (Stewart) Pfau, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at McLean in Simsbury, CT. He was born March 10, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of the late Edwin and Alice (O'Connor) Pfau and had lived in Springfield, OH from 1951-1977 and Manchester from 1977-2008 prior to moving to Simsbury. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. While in school, Math and Geography were his favorite subjects which he continued to love throughout his life. He graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Pfau worked for Robbins & Myers, Inc. until the age of 64 when he started his own business, Jerry Pfau & Associates, as a Manufacturer's Representative prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Simsbury, and the Knights of Columbus, and while living in Manchester was a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Bartholomew Church. Jerry traveled throughout the U.S. for both work and family vacations and enjoyed traveling in Europe with his wife. He took pride in his lovely trees and flowering shrubs throughout his property. Jerry loved his grandchildren and enjoyed playing the "Hand and Foot" card game with his family and friends. He never knew a stranger and loved hosting family and friends and talking about any subject. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Michael and Aleisa Pfau of Santa Barbara, CA, Terri and Tom St. Denis of West Simsbury, CT and Dan Pfau of South Windsor; seven beloved grandchildren, Jason and wife Larissa Pfau and their two children Alexandra and Theodore of San Francisco, CA, Courtenay Pfau of Los Angeles, CA, Jennifer Pfau of Santa Barbara, CA , Katie Pfau of Chicago, IL, Anna Pfau of West Hartford, CT, Martin St. Denis of Monterey, CA and Natalie St. Denis of West Simsbury, CT, his siblings, Patricia Worrell of Indianapolis, IN, twin sister, Mary Alice Armstrong and her husband Ken of McCordsville, IN and James E. Pfau and his wife Barbara of Guilford and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, CT, TODAY, Thursday, January 3rd from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 4th, 11:00am at St. Mary's Church, 942 Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury, CT. Private burial with military honors will be in St. James Cemetery in Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mary's Church, P.O. 575, Simsbury, CT 06070.
