News Death Notice

BREWER, Marion E. 84, of New Carlisle, OH, passed peacefully from this Earth on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Marion was born on June 26, 1929 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Marion and Lillian Kieffer. She married William (Bill) Brewer on Sept 2, 1947. Bill and Marion owned and operated Brewer Automotive in New Carlisle for 34 years. Marion was a proud member of the New Carlisle American Legion, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She loved fishing, shopping, going on long car rides and kickin' up her heels to her favorite song Rocky Top. Marion will be remembered by many of her family and friends for the infamous homemade noodles she made every year for Thanksgiving. This was a skill she learned as a young girl from her mother. Despite numerous attempts by her granddaughters, they have never been able to duplicate Grandma's famous noodles. Above all things, Marion will be most remembered for her love of all animals. She was a supporter of the Clark County Animal Welfare League in Springfield for many years. She had a soft spot for both dogs and cats and was known to take in any stray that needed a loving home. In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William Brewer. She is survived by her 3 brothers, Don (June) Kieffer of North Carolina, Doug (Anne) Kieffer of Tennessee, and Frank (Linda) Kieffer of New Carlisle, Ohio: her five children, Robert (Martha) Brewer of Newnan, Georgia; Sally Harris of Medway, Ohio; Lavada Dyer of Byesville, Ohio; William Brewer Jr. of Springfield; Ohio and Rhonda (Kevin) Ledford of New Carlisle, Ohio; her grandchildren, Sherry Waugh, Heath Jones, Heidi Jones, Krystal Urdak, Denny Ray Coon, Nichole Dyer, Sherry Brewer, Brandy Brewer, Travis Brewer, Amy Studebaker, Abby Ledford; 10 great-grandchildren; and her beloved friend of 63 years Notie (Red) MaHaffey of Dayton, Ohio. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11AM-1PM, Monday, October 7, 2013 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR and FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio with the funeral service immediately following at 1pm. Burial at New Carlisle Cemetery. Donations may be made in Marion's name to the Clark County Animal Welfare League, 6330 Willowdale Road Springfield, Ohio.
