News Death Notice

SHOUP, Marvin L. 85, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. He was born July 1, 1927 in New Carlisle, Ohio, the son of the late Carl and Arthena (Frantz) Shoup. Marvin's life-long vocation was agriculture. He was a member of the Donnels Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lela (Landes) Shoup; three children, Marva (Gayle) Brubaker, Melvin (Charlotte) Shoup, Cheryl (Duane) Flora; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Donnels Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, North Hampton, Ohio on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 2-5 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Myers Cemetery.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of Marvin who was one of my favorite farmers in the whole county. What a fine, gracious man he was. I'll miss seeing him working in the yard around his home. My life here on earth was made a lot better with a great friend like him. Again, my deepest sympathy.
