News Death Notice

BROOCK, Pauline H. 97, long time resident of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 3, 2014. She was born on April 8, 1916 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Felix and Lilly (Frank) Ballicer. Pauline married the late Ben Broock in July 1937 after a 3 week courtship. They resided in Dayton and Springfield where they had three sons, Les (Sharon) Broock, Jim (Sabra) Broock and Bob Broock. Pauline and her husband were founding members of Temple Sholom where she was active in Temple Sisterhood and many other committees. She was a caring friend and always there to help anyone in her community. Her favorite past time activity was playing mahjong and she will always be in the hearts of those who knew her. Along with her sons, she is survived by her grandchildren, Shelly Broock, Mindy Spence, Jenni Zarling, Joel Broock, Melissa McDowell, Seth Broock and Chelsea Genung; great-grandchildren, Andrew Spence, Shane Broock, Zoe and Maizie Zarling, Grace, Samantha and Reese McDowell, Noah, Isaac and Madelyn Genung; sister, Martelle Adler of Scarsdale, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 1p.m. at Temple Sholom, 2424 N. Limestone St. Springfield, OH 45503. Private family burial will be held at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pauline's memory to the Temple Sholom Sharonlee Broock flower fund or Hospice of the Miami Valley, 1948 N. Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503.
