News Death Notice

SANDERS, Ret. MSGT Robert Elwood 74, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013. He was born January 17, 1939 in Xenia, Ohio the son of Wilbert and Marian Elizabeth (McCoy) Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a past district vice president of the Springfield J. C.' s and was a member of the V. F. W. Post 1031, the Eagles, and past president and Hall of Fame member of the C. C. B. A. He was an avid bowler and golfer and was very active with the Y. A. B. A. as well as being a Junior Achievement member. He was retired from the Air National Guard 178th Tactical Fighter Wing and had been the co-owner of Commercial Rubber Stamp. Mr. Sanders graduated from Springfield High School in 1956. Survivors include one son, Matthew Sanders, Springfield; one foster son, Thomas (Niki) Waters, Springfield; one grandson, Austin Reed; three foster grandchildren, Thomas Waters Jr., Chelsea Waters, and Owen Waters; one brother, Richard E. (Brenda) Sanders, Donnelsville; one sister-in-law, Caroline Beiers, Springfield; four nephews, Gregory McDonald, Scott Beiers, James Sanders, and Jason Sanders; and special friend of family, Karissa Burchnell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara L. Sanders, December 21, 2012; brother-in-law, Lee Beiers; one nephew, Brian McDonald, and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Michael Cooper officiating. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the .
