I remember Tim as a quiet guy. Usually had a smile on his face. Really nice. He married one of my dear friends from Greenon, Lynne Valentine. They were a great couple. They both left this world for Heaven way too soon. But I'm sure they happy where they are.. and together. Best wishes to his family. Memories are wonderful!!

I will never forget Mr. Turner and how he used baseball and baseball card collecting in his teaching. He once gave me a valuable card as a gift. He was my favorite teacher who really made school fun, and set the bar high for all others who would follow... I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Dear Mrs. Turner, My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
My son was a student in his class in 1974 at Fairbrook School in
Beavercreek, OH and thought the sun rose and set on "Mr. Turner".
As did I. He and I discussed baseball collecting during the time
that I was writing an article on "Adult Collectors." He was so helpful
to me then. My son is now a film-writer in CA and I notified him of
this very sad news. May God be with you all during this time and in
the future. R.I.P. "Mr. Turner".....

Throughout life you meet many people. Some go in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant. Some leave an indelible mark on your life, in both good and bad times. I had the fortunate pleasure to know a man who became like a father to me in so many ways growing up. He disciplined me, took me to ball games and card shows, laughed, loved and shared unforgettable moments together. As the years passed and you grow older, time separates you as become ingrained in your own lives. But time cannot distance the bonds of friendship and family. You will forever be remembered for more than you realize and for the man you were to me. I will always love you like a father because you often treated me like your own son. Thanks for always being there and you will always be...the Original Timmy T. R.I.P.

Mr. T was my favorite teacher @ Fairbrook. My twin sister and I have many fond memories. He always knew how to make learning fun. I came to love spelling, English and History more and more. I will always remember when he took us to the Reds stadium. I still have my baseball card from that trip. God bless you Mr. Turner!

Mr. Turner was my 5th grade teacher at Fairbrook also. I remember all of the baseball cards and extra credit for writing to fan clubs and much more. He always made learning fun.

Lynne and the Turner family: Tim was my next door neighbor on jackson road for 8 years or so in the 1950's. I knew him from about 3 years of age, we were daily playmates until he and his family moved to rebert Pike(about the 6th or 7th grade). We played baseball almost daily in the neighborhood, rode bicycles, visited the nearby IGA for Tim to purchase baseball cards ( 5 cents for a pack of 5 and chewing gum). Tim was way ahead of his time with the baseball card collection even then as well as his inventing a baseball game using a paper bag with handwritten plays on slips of paper.Tim was always a happy go lucky friend which continued into his adulthood. He has always been a close friend and I will miss him greatly. He never complained about his illness and always reminisced about our chilhood days. My condolences to Lynne and the family we are all better off to have know Tim,he made the world a better place. He probably is playing baseball with Maurer and Tillman !!

I had the pleasure to become part of Tim's family through my husband, Andrew. Tim was among the very few people out there who always was a pleasure to be around. He carried his charming smile every where he went. During his battle with cancer Tim NEVER complained, even during his final days. He showed unwavering strength and dignity until the end. Tim will be sadly missed by many. I love you Pop. R.I.P. <3 Krista p.s. Thanks for procreating Andrew Turner :)

I have known Tim since highschool, which is also when I met my husband, Roger Clem. I remember Tim as always smiling and he was the person I always remember who called my husband by his nickname "Podge". In the last 10 years or so, we have seen Tim and Lynne almost every time we have visited Ohio and they have gone on several cruises with us also. Those occasions will not be the same without Tim. I am happy Tim is now at peace and is not suffering and no longer ill. God bless and keep you and your family, Lynne. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Peggy Clem

I have known Tim and his family since 1957, he, I, Chuck Fenwick, Tilman, and Steve/Randy Ark played ball everyday in the summer.
After high school and college we lost touch, in the 1980's I introduced my 3 boys to Tim and visited his card shop several time.
During this time he worked with my Dad at Sears and he always spoke good about Tim and how he could talk.
In late 2009 Tim and I started emailing and we both related our life stories, I considered Tim a very good friend and only wish we could have had a little more time.
I am saddened by his death. I wish his family well and hope that they carry him in their hearts and minds always, I know I will.

Dear Lynne and Family,
We are so sorry to hear about Tim's passing. We didn't know he became a teacher but it is not surprising in light of his warm and fun personality. What an admirable and important impact and legacy he left on his students. We, too, acquired many fond memories of Tim. His passion for baseball, riding his bike to our house (and evidently all over the place!) and his "just the nicest kid" countenance that never left him. One of my favorite memories of him included my brother and it was the time they spent playing their own made up nifty baseball game that relied on a simple, small, brown paper bag. It was filled with different baseball plays written on little slips of paper (foul ball, long drive, second base etc.). They had each chosen their current favorite team and would play nine innings. Each would take turns pulling plays out of the bag and the game would also be announced just like on the radio or TV! And of course they recorded every play in a notebook and I believe the notebook contained all the stats of the current players in the various leagues as well! Sweet innocent times past - we feel blessed to have these early memories to look back on in gladness. With sincere sympathy, Jan and Laurel Campbell

I was only one of thousands that called Tim my friend. We played together as children and continued our friendship through out our adult years. Until we meet again in Heaven I guess I will walk the trails of life here on earth until my name is added to the GHS Class of 1965 that has passed.

Mr. Turner always tried to make learning fun. Who could forget the tape recorded spelling tests? I'll never forget when I helped with one having the word "business" in which he had me sing the chorus of the the song "Takin' Care of Business" for the example sentence. I had never even heard of the song before then, but now I can never hear it without thinking of him. Thank you Mr. Turner for making sixth grade a memorable time for us. May God bless your family.

Mr. T was my 6th grade teacher from 1983-84. This was one of the best years of my life and I remember him as being a big part of it. He helped me get started with autograph collecting, taught me how to play football through Strat-O-Matic, and in short, was the 'cool teacher'. COOL BEANS!

I am so sad to hear about Mr. Turner's passing. Had him for 5th grade and still have two sets of full picture baseball cards I won at the extra credit point auction at the end of the year. Remember the Stato-O-Matic games at lunch and helping open baseball cards for the gum. You don't remember all your teachers in school, but everyone remembers Mr. Turner. He was a teacher and molder of young minds and there are few higher callings in life.

I also had Mr Turner for 5th grade at Fairbrook. He was the most amazing teacher and he made learning so much fun! I remember he would let students help him make audio tapes of spelling tests and he would make up rhymes and little songs for the spelling words. Future generations have no idea what they will miss out on by not having him as a teacher. He was a class act.

Tim and I spent some really quality time together as we workrd together at Fairbrook for many years. I helped some with his Strat-o-matic games for the students, went to some wonderful workshops in Columbus for several years, houseboating in Kentucky, and so many other activities that enriched my life! I am sorry I couldn't get back North to see him before he passed, but memories are vivid and he will be missed. Love ya, Carl B.

Mr. Turner was one of my Fifth Grade Teachers at Fairbrook. He had this huge book he would let us look at with fan clubs you could write to. I still have an autographed picture of Johnny Bench, Lilly Tomlin, and Goldie Hawn I got from using that book. He made learning fun, and shared his love of sports with us. A great man.

Tim and I were friends and neighbors, while growing up as kids. During the summer months we played almost daily with Steve & Randy Ark, Paul Rohrer, Roger Tillman, the Dillon twins Dave & Dan, and many more. Even though I had not seen Tim in many years, days would come to mind of our youth and the things we had done. My wife and I wish Tim's family and friends the very best during these difficult times. God Bless you Tim, and tell Roger and others I said hi.

I will always remember Tim for the fun we had at the National Sports Collector conventions in the late 80's/early 90's. He was a pioneer and one of the true gentlemen of the sports collecting hobby....In an era that was all about money, Tim was about having fun, educating people and promoting what he truly loved!
He will be missed by me and many others...
