News Death Notice
HAYS, Patricia Yarger of Springfield, Ohio passed away on April 23, 2012 at Springfield Regional Medical Center of congestive heart failure. She leaves many behind to mourn her loss. She is survived by her husband, Clayton Hays. They were together since high school. A daughter Victoria Hays and son Erik Hays, both of The Ohio State University. Two sisters, Alice Mosier of South Charleston Ohio Deborah (John) Dietsch of Springfield and a brother Keith (Ann) Yarger of Huber Hieghts, Ohio. And a large number of nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Juanita Yarger of Springfield. A degreed public accountant by vocation, she postponed having children until she was in her thirties. Taking maternity leave when Victoria was born, she came to the decision that raising her children was more important to her than her career. She reluctantly told her bosses Paul Shore and Carter Feltner that she was resigning. All during her children's school years, Patty was always behind the scenes as room mother, book sale leader and a school volunteer. Many a child had a hot meal out of the back of Mrs. Hays' Suburban at a cross country meet, school events, fair livestock show or scout activity. She met and enjoyed working with a lot of fellow parents and seemingly knew every kid in the district. As a teenager she developed the lifelong hobby of sewing. Initially making clothes for herself, she later made all the bridesmaid dresses for a niece's wedding and clothes and quilts for children in her extended family, all the while taking care of the various family business venture's accounting issues. As per her final wishes, there will be no calling hours and no public services. The family wishes to grieve in private. May God rest her soul. Memorial donations may be made to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, c/o The Ohio State University or Tecumseh Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements are being handled by the CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
