News Death Notice

WATKINS, Donna J. 78, of Springfield, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2012 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on December 25, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Alvin and Mildred W. (Galdeen) Wagner. Donna was devoted to her church and the word of God and was a longtime member of the High Street Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed bowling (thirty years consecutively) and loved music. She was a member of the Air Force Officers Wives Club Choir and also liked to do crossword puzzles. Donna also prepared and served meals at Vester Apartments for many years. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and Peter Mitchell of Prescott Valley, Arizona; Diana and Terry Amerine of Overland Park, Kansas; Debbie Lynch of Springfield; two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Paula Watkins of Red Bud, Illinois; and Jon and Diana Watkins of Springfield; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Jon Gessert of Red Feather Lakes, Colorado; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Joyce Wagner of Holly, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of thirty-six years, Robert Watkins Sr. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Mays officiating. She will be buried with her husband at the Dayton Veterans Cemetery following the service. You may express condolences at www.littletonandrue.com
