News Death Notice

CARTWRIGHT, Earl E. 78, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Heartland of Springfield. He was born on August 22, 1933, in Ross County, Ohio, the son of George T. and Gladys Irene (Johnson) Cartwright. He served our country in the United States Army as a Chaplain's Assistant. After his military service he earned his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Edison State College in Piqua. Earl was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, serving on many church boards, and retired from the Hobart Corporation (now ITW Corporation) after twenty years of service. He enjoyed golfing and "RV'ing" to the Villages in Florida for over fifteen years. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Susanne (Sharp) Cartwright, and one brother and sister-in-law, Reverend Richard and Ethel Cartwright of Springfield, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin J. Cartwright. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 4-6 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of his faith and life will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Keith Sarver officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
